7 Waves Community Radio
22/02/08Dear Fred,
Well, its happened at last, we now have a full time "7 waves community radio station" ( 7WCR 92.1 ) on the Wirral, broadcasting from the 1st march 2008, 24/7 for 5 years, and as a result I have been offered a two hour Jazz and Big Band Swing program starting Thursday 6th from 8pm,
Our new wavelength is 92.1 fm,
Although we are a local community radio station based on the Wirral, it may be possible to receive the transmission within the immediate surrounding areas, i. e. parts of Liverpool, North Wales etc., a test transmission is now being broadcast on 92.1 FM, so tune in, and mark your dial,
It would be interesting to know just how far outside the Wirral area 7WCR can be heard, please let me know,
There are plans to stream on the Internet, so if you are outside the area you should be able to listen in, more details later,
All 7WCR programs will be of local Wirral content,
My program will include local bands, music, venues, events, personalities, requests, dedications, etc and the up and coming "Wirral International Jazz
Festival" ( Well, its a good idea!! )
I have plans for a studio guest every week, so if you would like to take part please let me know at the studio, or when IM around and about with my recording machine,
I would like bands to send me your old and new recordings, i.e. records, tapes, your latest CDs, etc, for inclusion in my programs, this also includes worldwide bands, certain restrictions apply in all cases, so please contact me first,
I want information about your up and coming venues, local and not so local, " Wirral Jazz people will travel"
I would also like your feed back, "who - what - no not him again - etc" your ideas and suggestions will be seriously considered,
For further information including advertising and sponsorship please contact 7WCR at

I will collect items if local, other collections could be arranged, you could always leave items with anyone who visits "Wirrorleans" or "Mamas Jass Babies" venues, or with anyone who knows me,
As you probably realise, 7Waves have an ever growing library, but very little of our music, I am using my own
meagre collection, and previous donations from the last broadcasts, all contributions gratefully
received,
Recently donated items, Thank you,
A Blue Magnolia Jass Orchestra LP from the 70s, all long hair and flairs,
A Tom O,Connor LP, again from the 70s, featuring Ernie Macs Saturated 7 with a very young Billy Edwards and Don
Lydiate,
A Saturated 7 EP as above,
A Worn out Dutch Swing College LP,
Fats Waller playing the organ, Reel to Reel tape,
A box of assorted 78s,
No Problem, I have facilities to edit, clean, and transfer audio to CD,
I will be including those two 70s LPs on my forth coming programs as soon as I can secure complimentary interviews,
Please send your requests via email, or phone 0151 639 3094,
Go on do it now!!

I felt the program went well, again, a big improvement on the last one, and a 100% on the first one,
I found after listening to taped recordings of the program I seem to get a bit over excited towards the end, talking too fast, tripping over my words, a lot has to do being tired I think.
Next week, my final broadcast in this series, I will be inviting a well known personality and broadcaster from the
Wirral, Mr Tony Davies of Jazz FM fame, he will be sharing the middle hour of the show with me, playing CDs and talking Jazz,
The rest of the program will be taken up with your requests, comments, local jazz news, a gig list, a competition or two, so please get your requests in, I will have lots of air time to fill,

Dear Fred.
My report on last weeks program, and details of next weeks,
My second voyage over the airwaves on thursday 10th feb was a big improvement over the last one,
The main improvements being I was more altogether, but my brain to body co-ordination was still abit slow, (banjo-itis)
I did leave a few deliberate" mistakes, one of them being not mentioning the answers to the competitions, I hope you were awake!!
In fact, as I did not reveal the answers, I may carry the questions over to this weeks competition,
I hope you liked my program, let me know, please, your requests and comments are all important,
My program this week thursday, Jazz and Big Band Swing Show "SwingWaves"
17th Feb, 7pm til 10pm
7waves community radio 87.7fm, on the Wirral, Merseyside,
As it is was the "Merseysippi Jazz Bands" 56th birthday celebration on Valentines night, I will be doing a Merseys feature in the first hour with interviews and playing tracks from there "Senior Moments CD" ( the only CD I have lads!!) I will be accepting requests to play on the night, so get them in now, this will give me time to organise my program, although I can, and I will, play, requests recieved on the night, but it will be pot luck,
A good idea might be to place your request on Freds Guest page, I will monitor the site, fred could delete them later, but not on the night, please use the other contacts,
telephone 0151 639 3094
Email studio@7waves.co.uk
Web Site www.7waves.co.uk ( live webcam in the studio, give me a wave!!)
log on to http://www.7waves.co.uk/stream.asx if out of the local transmission area,
In the second hour I will be featuring a well known local band
The "Blue Magnolia Jass Orchestra" and playing tracks from there latest CD
"From the bottom to the top"
In the second hour, I will be featuring the "Tom Lanes Red Hot Chillies" from Lincolnshire, and playing tracks from the CD "All of Me"
The bits in between will be filled with your requests, jazz news, gig list, and a competion or two,
A constructive comment has been put foreward regarding the on-going favouring of the Merseysippi Jazz Band in my programs, and a related venue, yes thank you,
It just so happens, that during the period of my one off four week broadcast, two very important events have happened,
The 6th Merseyside Jazz Festival, hosted by the Merseysippi Jazz Band, and the
56th Birthday party being held at there regular monday night venue, which falls on valentines day, the same day as there very first gig in 1949,
As a local Radio Station we are encouraged to cover items of local interest,
Provided there are no more major events coming up the next week ( my last ) regarding the Merseys, I will be changing Tack,
Your comments are very welcome, helps me to help you,
Thank you for your support, please tune in if you can,
Bert Schroeder
