I hope you can hear the background music on this page. This is "Spreading Joy" by the Apex Jazz Band of Northern Ireland. Having had Norman Gibson and George Smyth singing the praises of this band, I thought I'd feature them on the Home Page, especially as Norman sent me a CD to listen to. According to their web site, "THE APEX was formed back in 1966 by trumpet player George Chambers and is unarguably Ireland's longest established and most successful jazz band". Throughout the years the THE APEX has appeared all over Ireland at festivals, concerts and jazz club sessions and has made numerous radio and TV appearances for BBC, Ulster Television and RTE... including the Late, Late Show (RTE & C4), Jazz Parade (BBC Radio 2) and The Kelly Show (UTV). |

Welcome to my world of Traditional Jazz. The pages which follow are a tribute to the musicians who have dedicated themselves to playing the music of New Orleans and Dixieland in the North West of the British Isles. Although I try very hard to ensure all the information about the bands and events are correct, please check with the venues concerned before setting out on your journey.
