BOOM & BLOOM
4th Nov 2004.
Having just spent 6 weeks going nowhere slowly round France, I feel it my duty to tell your jazz loving readers, what was for me the highlight of my trip. This was going to a Dixieland Jazz Session At the bar “Tal ar Pont”, Chateaunef du Fauo in Brittany on a Sunday 4 till 7 pm. 3 hours flew by all too quickly and we were left in a cloud of wonderment and true appreciation of having heard some of the best jazz for a long time
The band is called “Good Time Jazz” . The leader clarinettist is Trevor Stent (Original Blue Magnolia Jass Orchestra Leader ) playing even better than ever, fantastic young French pianist, superb French drummer, very talented English singer & base player, but the best and I mean the best cornet player I have heard, he was really fantastic. I think the reason I found him so fantastic apart from his superb performance in Bix Beiderbecke style, is that he is only 13 yrs old, his name is “Malo Geronne” watch this space, a true jazz prodigy!!!
The band play every month at the “Tal ar Pont” At Chateauneuf du Fauo, not always with Marlo, but if you are liable to be in the area it is worth “3 coats of listen to”.
If I could get back on the 7th of November, I would be there!!
