The New Riverside Jazz Band has now moved yet again, this time, we hope, permanently. to the Bowling Green Hotel at Scotforth, at the traffic lights on the A6 [parking in Booth's car park next door.] We are pleased to be re-united with an old friend-- landlord Dave Horner, late of the Wagon & Horses, on St George's Quay, which was our venue for some 16 years. We started there in September and are quietly rebuilding our circle of friends, after a troubled couple of years. The band appears on the 1st Thursday of each month.
We also have a few dates at the John o'Gaunt next year, the first three being Feb. 10th, April 21st and June 16th.
The band now comprises leader Alan Duckles [Cornet], Barrie Marshall [Clarinet], Alan Mathews [Trombone], Dave Bateman [Guitar and Banjo], Jack Mawdsley [Sousaphone and Double Bass] and Ralph Wilson [Drums].
