2009

Saturday 28 November 2009  YARL RIVER JAZZ BAND This South Cumbria based band has developed their own style of warm hearted toe tapping trad jazz. The band includes a piano and a tuba along with the usual jazz instruments, 7 pieces in all and very entertaining. Well received on their last visit to our club. Now includes Mike Lovell as guest trombone player and Rosie Harrison, guest vocalist. Counting Rosie this now makes 8 in the band!
Saturday 23 January 2010  SAVANNAH JAZZ BAND A very interesting take on the New Orleans theme. This popular and widely travelled band have really polished up their style and have always been a big hit on their many previous visits to our club.
Saturday 27 February 2010  KEITH NICHOLS ALL STAR BAND Keith Nichols - Outstanding on piano, good on vocals. Spats Langham - Arguably this country's finest banjo player. Norman Fields - Brilliant on clarinet and sax in all early styles. Nick Ward - Terrific vintage style drummer - light style. Richard Vernon - Very fluid bass player ex Tommy Burton's Band. Alan Duckles - Guest cornet player - very valuable contribution, talented too. This band is with us for the 11th time and is always a big hit. The roaring 20's revisited. This is 'white jazz' as played for the largely white audiences in posh nightspots and demands lots of talent. BOOK EARLY
Saturday 27 March 2010 HIGH SOCIETY JAZZ BAND

Highly entertaining 7 piece band based in Morecambe. The band was formed nearly two years ago from established musicians, some already familiar to us a Roa Island. They find themselves very busy in the North West playing music from the jazz era New Orleans and Chicago, swing and vo-de-o-do from the Thirties, and music from Broadway Musicals and Hollywood films. Star vocalist Jan Stirling.
Saturday 1 May 2010 MARTIN BENNETT'S OLD GREEN RIVER BAND

This widely travelled and distinctive sounding band bring vibrant life to early blues and jazz, some country and western and rhythm and blues. Some youngsters in the band too
