No more jazz!
| Just as 'SIX-IN-A-BAR' Classic
Jazz Band were making a success of playing in the afternoons at the
Thornton Little Theatre, the Council, in their infinite wisdom, have
increased our hire charge by 300%. Amazing forward thinking don't
you think?! It is impossible to support that sort of increase so
with regret we have had to pull out of all the future booked dates,
the first being on the April 18th. I sincerely hope this doesn't
upset our loyal fans too much and that most of them will either read
this or hear through the grape vine about the unfortunate
situation.... ...However...hopefully good comes out of bad and I approached a pub, just up the road from the theatre and they are very keen on continuing the afternoon jazz. Instead of Wednesday afternoons we are now going to be playing at The Bourne Poacher on Sunday afternoons from 1pm till 3.30pm. Easy to remember as it is going to be the last Sunday of each month. I hope this is a good idea as... Several fans who would have liked to have come on a Wednesday afternoons, couldn't because they are working. Travel will be easier on a Sunday with a bus service that passes the door. There is a huge car park at the pub. Fans might like to incorporate a Sunday Roast lunch while listening to the jazz. There is a small dance floor as well. The Bourne Poacher is a beautiful large hostelry, ideal for entertainment, and Angela and Ian who have been the tenants for some years now, building up a very successful business with a fully stocked bar as you would expect, and also offering delicious hot and cold food at the right price, which includes Sunday Roast Lunches, are looking forward to welcoming you to this new venture.
