I have always enjoyed watching films, but did not start going to the cinema with any regularity until 1995. After moving to Edinburgh to study at university in 1996 I became increasingly interested in art house, independent and world cinema, an interest nurtured by the diverse choice on offer at the local cinemas.
I bought my first DVD player in the summer of 2000 to celebrate my graduation from university. My DVD collection has been growing steadily ever since! The development of my home cinema continued with the purchase of a widescreen TV in autumn 2001 and has expanded gradually in order to get the most out of my DVDs, although I have yet to upgrade to the High Definition Blu-ray revolution.
In the summer of 2003 I had my first experience of film-making, joining an impromptu group of mainly first time film-makers who joined together to enter a team in the National 48 Hour Film Challenge. Since then I have been involved in the production of many low budget short films, including entries for other 24 and 48 hour competitions, and in 2010-2011 I worked on a feature film for the first time.
