Introduction

Doom may be old enough to claim a state pension but it's still very playable. It was one of the first major games to be customizable. There are several editors; I use Deu 5.2.1 and NWT. I have designed two WAD files containing 16 levels in total.

Outpost

A scene from level 2 of Outpost.wad

Outpost.wad is designed for single player or co-operative modes. There are six levels: E2M1 to E2M6 and the secret level, E2M9. It is very hard and will challenge the best Doomers. However, the difficulty levels are used so mere mortals can have fun on the lower settings too. There is only one piece of custom art, in the first room. Some of the music I composed myself but I am not a very good composer.

Robsdm

Level 1 of robsdm.wad

Robsdm.wad is nine deathmatch levels. They replace the nine levels of episode 1. All of them are quite small because they were designed for two players. Many impressive looking deathmatch levels turn out to be rubbish because you spend ages looking for each other. I havn't been able to try it with more than two but I expect it would be a complete frag fest.

All of the levels completely different and give a different type of game. The best one in most peoples' opinion is level 3. It consists of a roughly oval shaped room with teleporters at each end. In the middle are nine platforms which move up and down. This means that both the layout and the availability of the weapons is constantly changing.

There are two versions of this WAD:
