Whilst my relationship with the Barraclough name is slightly remote, I have found this particular name to be very interesting. Barraclough's have been in the Wibsey, Hipperholme area, pretty well since records began. Coincidentally this is the same region as my Sutcliffe ancestors lived.

This Barraclough page is my pilot page to publish ideas as to how I see the rest of the site developing over the course of time.

Over the years I have developed an extensive database of Barraclough individuals born before about 1800 and am including a copy in PDF format here. By using the database in conjunction with the family groups below it is possible to get the maximum available information. At the moment I have not included the sources, but they have all been verified by me personally from original documents, where possible. Of course I can give no guarantees of their accuracy, only that I believe them to be accurate.

I should point out that much of the information on this page has been made possible by Jeff's clients, who also wish to share the results with others.
Should any other likeminded person wish any research work carried out then that can also be added. Similarly I am prepared to publish scans of Wills, purchased etc.

I should point out that I do this freely as a gesture of goodwill and not because I consider myself under an obligation. Whilst I am prepared to publish the results of my research for the foreseeable future, I can give no guarantees that this will remain the situation.

Barraclough Database of Individuals Updated 6 February 2005

I have researched Barraclough's from about 1500 to 1800 and included here are some of the family groupings. The links between the groups is identified so it is possible to move forwards, backwards and sideways through them. Family and extended Family Groups.
Richard Barraclough & Elizabeth Judson of Hipperholme 1540 - 1600 (Family Group Ref 6_28)
Richard Barraclough & Alice Hoyle of Halifax 1510 - 1605 (Family Group Ref 6_20)
John Barraclough and Alice of Lightcliffe 1530 - 1606 (Family Group Ref 6 19)
William Barraclough of Norwoodgreen 1550 - 1610 (Family Group Ref 6 30)
Abraham Barraclough of Hipperholme, Fewston and North Bierley 1574 - 1700 (Family Group Ref 6 27)
Michael Barraclough & Dorothy Barraclough of Hipperholme and Horton 1582 - 1650 (Family Group Ref 6_26)
Abraham Barraclough & Eleanor Priestley of North Bierley 1676 - 1785 (Family Group Reference 6 2)
Francis Barraclough & Mary Pollard of Wibsey 1685 - 1800 (Family Group Reference 6 1)
In conjunction with my extensive Wills Indexes, I am now including some Will Transcripts and Scans. These scans may take a few minutes to download, but reading them takes a lot longer. Many of these transcripts have been done by other Barraclough descendents. One of the nicer aspects I have found in the course of my research is that fellow researchers do not appear to jealously guard the results of their research, but freely share it with others, as I am doing now and also advise and assist others. I still have a lot more transcripts to upload.
