  Transcript of the Will of Alice Barraclough of Hipperholme January 1606 Ref Volume 30 Folio 578 from Peter Northing  
  In the name of God Amen the xxvii th day of August Anno Dmi one thousand six hundred and six I Alice Barraclough of the Township of Hipperholme in the County of Yorke. widowe though somewhat feeble and diseased in body yett in remembrance pfect (thanks be to God) dooe make and ordayne this my last will and testmt in manner and forme followinge (vist) I give and commend my soule into the hands of Almighty God. And my body to be buryed in Christian buryall. And concerning the disposinge of my worldly goods I ordayne as followeth.
First. I give and bequeath to Alice Barraclough daughter of Abraham Barraclough my sonne one blacke pig (Ewe).
Item I give to Mary Hanson wife of Richard Hanson all my Appell boeth wollen and lynnen whatsoever and also I give unto the said Mary one red branded Cowe and a sow (ram) and besydes . I give and bequeath unto the said Mary Hanson my daughter the one half of the rest of all my goods creditts and chattells unbequeathed.
Item I give and bequeath unto my son John Barraclough the halfe p(ar)te and (------------ )of one ffermhold on lease all the (housely) nowe in my hands and (occupation ?)
Item I give and bequeath more to Alice Barraclough my said sonnes daughter one cheste in the chamber
Item I give to Edward Hanson sonne of Richard Hanson one ch--------y for the use of Mary Barraclough. Item I ordayne and appointe (one branded 2 ----- ed ??) (Cowe1) for my funerall and bringinge forthe 3 The residue of all my goodes and chattells not already bequeathed ( my debts and funeral expenses beinge fully discharged I whollie give to John Barraclough my sonne and Mary Hanson (aforesaid) my daughter whome I make and ordayne jointe and severally executors of this my last will and testamt. And revokinge all former wills testamts by me att any time made and confirmed. I onely verify and confirme this my last will and testament in the presence and hearinge of Henry Higinson Curate and John (Maley? / Wales ?) whome I admitt witnesses whereof I have sett my hand and sele the day and yeare above written.
