In the Name of God Amen
The Twenty Sixth day of March in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Fifty Four.
I Isaac Sutcliffe of Mill Houses, Bowling in the Parish of Bradford, in the West Riding of of the County of York, Coal Miner, do herebymake this my last Will and testament giving unto my Executor hereinafter named in trust, the whole of my estate and effects, of what kind nature or tenure soever or wherever situate and to be disposed of gy them in the following manner and form.
And first it is my will that all my just debts funeral and testamentary expenses and the cost and charges of a gravestone with the Epitaph of myself and my late wife upon it, be fully paid and faithfully discharged, the said expenses to be paid out of my personal estate.
Further it is my will that my two cottages situate in Manchester Road, Bowling, in the parish of Bradford be sold either by public auction or private contract but it is my will that preference be given to my own children that is to say that they have the first offer as purchasers.
And further I order and direct that all the proceeds or sums of money arising from such sale or sales of the said cottages and also all other sum or sums of money which I may have in possession and all other money which may be due or owing to me be colllected into one sum and equally divided among all my children, that is to say, it is my will that the whole of my estate and effects excepting my household furniture be divided among my son Lister, and my daughters Mary, Elizabeth, Sarah, Ann and Rhoda share and share alike.
Further I give to my son Lister my clock, also I give to my granddaughter Elizabeth Rotheray the bed on which she has been accustomed to sleep.
And all the rest and remainder of my household furniture I order and direct that they be equally divided among all my five beforementioned daughters.
Further should any of my said son or daughters die before they become entitled or become possessed of their respective share or shares, it is my that such share or shares be equally divided among their lawfull offspring.
Further should any of my aforesaid son or daughters die and leave no lawfull issue then I order and direct thatsuch share or shares shall be equally divided among my surviving son or daughters.
And it is my will that my cottages be disposed of as soon as convenient after my decease and all my money and outstanding debts be collected so that each of my aforesaid children may as it is my will that they should each have their respective share or shares in twelve months after my decease.
And further I order and direct that my hereinafter mentioned Executors whom I also leave in trust, manage, perform and execute all deeds and conveyances independent of either my present or any future heirs.
And further I do hereby nominate constitute and appoint my friend David Bottomley Tea Dealer of Thornton Lane Horton, and my son in law William Rushforth, Coal Miner, Woodhouse Hill, North Bierley both in the Parish of Bradford, their heirs, Executors Administrators or assigns joint executors of this my last Will and testament.
And it is my will that they be not responsible for any unavoidable loss of either Pricipal or interest and also that they be reasonably remunerated for loss of time and other expenses consequent upon proving and otherwise executing this my Will and utterly disallowing and making void all former Wills.
I ratify and confirm this and no other to be my last Will and testament in witness whereof I the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year beforewritten.
