I have been researching my Ventress ancestors for some time, now. They were quakers from Bilsdale in North Yorkshire. The earliest Ventress ancestor I have is Thomas Ventress who was born about 1720 and married mar baker a Quaker Minister in 1747 and died in 1757. I don't know if he was born a Quaker. The Ventress or Fentress name seems to have been prolific in the Whitby area, across to Bilsdale, along the Northern edge of the North York Moors.

In the course of my research I have collected a lot of Will references, which may or may not be relevant. These are on my web site. I am intending publishing transcripts and scans of the Wills on these pages.
