Elizabeth, the daughter of William and Mary (née HAVERCROFT) BEELEY, was baptised in 1789 at Appleby, LIN.
Elizabeth BEELEY's grandfather, Benjamin was baptised in 1724 at Gainsborough All Saints, LIN where he later married Mary LITTSTER, in 1750. Mary was born in Upton, LIN, the daughter of William LITTSTER.
Benjamin and Mary BEELEY had eleven children:
1. Joseph BEELEY (1751-) born in Upton, LIN.
2. Benjamin BEELEY junior (1752-1827).
3. Frances BEELEY (1754-) married Joseph WILKINSON in 1777.
4. Maria BEELEY (1756-).
5. Jane BEELEY (1758-) - the last four children were all baptised at Willingham by Stow, LIN.
6. Elizabeth BEELEY (1760-).
7. Sarah (1760-1836) baptised the same day as her sister, Elizabeth, and married Robert ABBOTT of Belchford, LIN in 1789 at Appleby, LIN.
8. John BEELEY (1765-).
9. William BEELEY (1767-) married Mary HAVERCROFT - my line.
10. Joseph BEELEY (1769-).
11. Kitty BEELEY (1772-1804) married John ABBOTT in 1795 at Bilsby. John's brother, Robert, had already married Kitty's older sister, Sarah.
The last six children were all baptised at Appleby, LIN.
Elizabeth's father, William BEELEY was baptised in 1767 at Appleby, LIN and when twenty-one, single and living in Rancliffe, Broughton by Brigg, LIN, fathered a child.
William BEELEY was Lily Maud PARISH's great, great paternal grandfather. Her great, great maternal grandmother was Elizabeth RATCLIFF of Rancliffe. Elizabeth RATCLIFF was the mother of William BEELEY's illegitimate daughter, Hannah. William was pursued through the courts and an order was taken out for him to pay costs concerning the birth and so much per week until Hannah was seven years old. Hannah was baptised in 1789 and later married George MOORE, a farm labourer, in 1818 at Appleby where they remained and raised a family.
William BEELEY did not marry Elizabeth RATCLIFF but in 1792 at Stallingborough married Mary HAVERCROFT, one of the six children of John and Mary (née SMITH) HAVERCROFT.
William and Mary BEELEY's four children:
1. Elizabeth BEELEY (1789-1827) was baptised in 1789 at Appleby, LIN.
2. Mary BEELEY (1795-1867) married Marmaduke MORLEY in 1814.
3. Catherine BEELEY (1796-1823). Married Robert POPPLE in 1814 at Bottesford, LIN.
4. Benjamin BEELEY (1798-).
