
Tony Saunders-Davies has an interesting article on the Quekett pages about one of his favourite microscopes, made by Meopta. It's light-weight (1 kg), comes in a small carrying case 14 cm diameter and, using a standard size eye-piece but smaller than standard objectives, provides magnification of x50, x100 and x300. Tony has fitted his with a condenser and iris, which improves the contrast at x300.
Tony mentions that he has been asked if it's for sale but it isn't! However, I discovered a shop in Norwich that had about a dozen of them, still unused though manufactured in 1983, for sale at £65 each. If you are after one, have a word with Maurice Marchant at:
