Ah...Norway, land of Turbonegro, Dimmu Borgir, umm...A-Ha and generally very
cold temperatures. My knowledge of Norway stops there I'm afraid and I'm
slightly ashamed of such ignorance, but never mind.
Accidents Never Happen produce driving indie-rock with exciting and energetic
vocals and clever guitar lines that swirl about and solo in a kind of
psychadelic way. Their rhythms are bound to get you stomping your feet and
clapping your hands in no time. But one thing that I don't think ANH will get
you doing is singing along. Although their lyrics are quite interesting (almost
random, but in a way that you can often find your own meaning for them) there's
not many points where they ring in your head, they're just not catchy.
It's a good, distinctive style that they've found for themselves, but I'd have
liked more repetition every now and again in the words and melody. A structure
that seems to go along the right lines is The Girl Who Loved Too Much, having
that kind of chorus just helps the listener know where they are with the music,
but most of the other songs just washed right over me without causing me much
excitement.
