When a band begin their biography with "Djevara is Punk Rock", it's impossible
not to let out a little groan, cos at the end of the day, who cares what is punk
and what isn't; people expend far too much energy trying to prove stuff as
'punk' or 'not punk' when it is largely pointless.
Djevara put some worthy effort into DIY promotion and charitable causes, and
their music puts out some big statements to support this, screamed out like One
Minute Silence or Rage Against The Machine at their peak, and the guitar work
also shows a nod in the same direction.
This band are sure to grab some attention and draw interest towards them with
their ironic and provocative track titles. At nearly an hour long, this CD
could prove heavy going but it's interesting on a lot of levels, has some great
moments and is a rewarding listen.
