Forgotten Sleep - Demo 2007
1. The Hard Sell
2. Say Something
3. If I Wait Too Long
4. Year of the Dog
There's two sides to Forgotten Sleep. There's the poppy, commercial side
that comes out like the Hives, the Arctic Monkeys et al and is demonstrated by
the The Hard Sell and Year of the Dog. It's happy, upbeat,
infectious, at times cheesy but in a pleasant way, and generally takes a
fuckload of feel-good and piles on top a massive heap of more feel-good.
Their other side is what you'd expect; a darker more emotive side with tender
melodies over clever chord sequences akin to Radiohead and Queens of the Stone
Age.
They should certainly concentrate most of their efforts on their lighter side
though, and perhaps leave the darker stuff to one or two tracks on a full-length
album.
It's good shit though, and a worthwhile enjoyable listen.
