Hinterland - Demo 2007
1. Vote With Your Feet
2. Fight Your Own Way Back
3. What Gets You Off
I've been listening to some pretty good music recently for a change, the normal
pile of crap that comes through my door has been staying away of late. So with
that in mind, it's not that Hinterland are bad, but in comparison to the other
music I've been hearing it's mild and doesn't excite me at all.
Leicester's Hinterland play heavy riff-based indie-rock. There's clever little
soft interludes every now and again between the riffs that give your ears a well
earned break from the repetitive chord sequences. This is probably my biggest
problem with Hinterland; if they're basing the backing music around riffs and
slow moving chord sequences that I'm not fond of, it probably doesn't matter how
ballsy or soaring the vocals are, I'm just going to find it hard to be thrilled
with the outcome.
Well played? Yes. Well produced? Certainly. Interesting ideas? No not really.
