A New Day - Demo 2007
1. Reality Check
2. More to a Hero
For a 2-track demo, I probably wouldn't have gone with an epic intro of
nearly a minute and a half, but once the wanking about is over with, the music
kicks in. And fucking hell does it kick in. Simple, fat power chords and a short
guitar solo and we're straight into the good stuff. The vocals are massively
strong, at times rough and gravelly and then they'll slip into fist-raising
euphoric long notes. There's a lot of work gone into creating layers with these
vocals and they weave in and out of each other with great effect. Epic seems
obviously what A New Day are all about, the breakdown in the first track leads
to a slow gangshout sections that carries us through til the end.
The second track is generally more of the same and everything I mentioned before
still applies. There's not quite so much innovation gone into this one, but it's
still a solid tune in their distinctive style.
Enjoyable stuff.
