The Apostates - Same Old Sound
1. Same Old Sound
2. A Farewell to Arms
3. Bones Malone
4. Off My Life
Since their last CD, the Apostates have found a more driving ska and punk sound
that is far more polished. The vocals have some little ragga touches
that's helped bands like Sonic Boom Six and King Prawn in the past, but without
sounding gratuitous or superficial. Like Rancid, they've probably got the
balance between their influences right, letting none dominate their sound and
keeping it pretty rocking throughout. My only criticism of this CD is that
the first song goes on way too long repeating the chorus line until you're
pretty sick of it. They could have easily shaved a couple of minutes off
the track which isn't far off 5 minutes long. Anyway, there's plenty of
talent here on this punchy little record and I'd recommend checking them out.
