Born in May 1939 above my father's pharmacy in Ash Road, Saltley, Birmingham. It later became a hairdresser's - now it is the Madina Masjid Mosque!
We were 'bombed out' of there in 1941 and moved to Brockhurst Road, Hodge Hill, Birmingham two days before my second birthday. That family home remained in our possession until two days after my 61st birthday!
