A R Hutchinson (we can't remember his first name!) came to Aston in 1947, but not as a 'First Former'. When he was in the Lower Sixth he produced this scraper board drawing entitled 'The School Yard'. It was used for the school's Christmas card in 1950 or 1951.

He left Aston to go to Bournville School of Art, but his career thenceforward is unknown.

I am indebted to Brian Roberts (1945), with whom A R Hutchinson was contemporary, for the admittedly sketchy information we have about this obviously talented artist. And to Chris C F Williams (1950) for a copy of the Christmas card - sent to his mother and signed by Harry Tyson!
