The month started with visits from former pupils of my old school from widely differing generations and places. Two twenty one year olds from just round the corner, and a 75 year old from Australia. All were equally interesting to talk to.
My annual visit to a walking friend in Chesterfield took me once more into the Peak District, where we walked below Millstone Edge, through Hathersage and along the river Derwent. Starting at Nether Padley we passed Totley railway tunnel, at 6230 yards the longest still in use.
Another much anticipated annual visit was to an old school contemporary in York, a city of which I never tire. Whilst there we visited Beningbrough Hall, after lunch at the Dawnay Arms and walking around its estate and alongside the river Ouse.
The last two weeks of the month were spent on a walking holiday in Armenia. This proved to be too strenuous for me, suggesting that my days of taking such holidays has run its course. Nonetheless, I have taken so many photographs of this fascinating country, that it will be a little while before they are on display. Click here to see them.
Three of my young friends did well with their 'A' level results, enabling each to go to the university of his choice. Hearty congratulations to Sanchit, Giles, and Jesse.
