My 70th birthday fell on a Bank Holiday weekend, when no hotel would want my custom. Once it wasn't practicable to celebrate on the actual day, it seemed sensible to have two parties. When I had my 65th birthday I knew only three of my former school contemporaries. Since then, and thanks largely to the wonders of Internet search engines and this web site, I had met many more. So I decided to have one party for them, and another for my relatives and other friends:
