The birth brief (or 'ancestor chart') is my favourite method of displaying ancestors because it shows all the direct ones. Shown below is mine going back to 32 ancestors (six generations), although I only know 22 of their full names. Because my paternal grandparents were first cousins I have only 14 ancestors where the rest of you have 16!

In the next generation back I know the full names of only six (out of 64) and, beyond that, five out of 128.
