Sunrise over Dumbarton Rock

Welcome to the photography section of my website. Photography is my passion. The cameras I currently use are: the Canon EOS 1D Mark II N, the Canon EOS D60, the Olympus E400 and the Nikon Coolpix 950. My online photographs are published in six picasaweb galleries. There is a gallery for each of the following locations: London, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Dumbarton, Clydebank and Bowling. If you would like to view my images, please use the links on the right. I don't (usually) mind anyone using my images, but please ask first. Please feel free to leave a (preferably polite!) comment.

I have started creating some of my own photography search engines using 'Roll Your Own'. So far I have created one for photography sites in general, and one for sites related to Adobe Photoshop. I will continue to develop them until they reach their capacity of twenty-five sites. If you would like to suggest any sites for inclusion, please email me the links. You will find the links to my ROLLYO search engines in the right-hand column. The links are called 'Photography Search' and 'Adobe Photoshop Search'.

Links to sites about my favourite photographers can be found by clicking on 'Photography Bookmarks' in column on the right. I have developed these links in 'Furl'. If you would like to recommend a website about a photographer or you have your own photography website, please email me the link. If I like the site I will include it im my bookmarks. I have used a lot of Web 2.0 sites in developing this blog. If you want to add some Web 2.0 functionality to your own site, click here for some links that may help you.

Books and Reading

After photography, my next passion in life is reading. The novel I am reading at the moment is 'The Good Soldier: A Tale of Passion' by Ford Maddox Ford. As soon as I have finished it, I will post a review in my Squidoo Lenses Book Reviews. Some good books that I have read recently are: 'Big Sur' by Jack Kerouac, which was a very harrowing acccount of someone sufering with delirium tremens, 'When We Were Orphans' by Kazuo Ishiguro, 'Lamb' by Bernard Mac Laverty, 'Buddha Da' by Anne Donovan, 'The Kite Runner' by Khaled Hosseini, 'Lanark' by Alasdair Gray, 'Hunger' and 'Victoria' both by Knut Hamsun, 'The Cutting Room' and 'Tamburlaine Must Die' both by Louise Welsh and 'The Ice Palace' by Tarjei Vesaas. The latter is one of the best novels I have read. I thoroughly recommend it. It is both powerful and moving. I have published a review of 'The Ice Palace' on 'Squidoo'.

At the moment I have a large pile of books I intend to read. This ever-growing pile inlcudes: 'Never Let Me go' by Kazuo Ishiguro, 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukranian' by Marina Lewycka, 'A Child Called It' by Dave Pelzer, 'Something Leather' by Alasdair Gray, 'Small Island' by Andrea Levy, 'Souls and Bodies' by David Lodge, 'Paradise', 'Day', 'Original Bliss' and 'Everything You Need' all by A.L. Kennedy and many, many more. I only hope I live long enough to read them all! My latest review is of 'The Remains of the Day' by Kazuo Ishiguro.

You can vist the websites of some of my favourite authors by using my 'del.icio.us' 'Books and Reading Bookmarks'.
