Green Business

In this section I hope to put information about schemes and events that promote environmental awareness, or practical actions in Business
The Green Business
Initiative
I pinched this information from Bolton Councils web
site. I'm sure they won't mind as it is in a good cause.
Appreciate it is not perfect, since it can be argued that the production of UPVC windows
is in itself polluting. But overall the aims seem positive for the environment and
raising awareness
The Council's web site says . . .
Local businesses can do their bit for the environment and become more profitable under a new scheme from Bolton Council.
The Green Business Initiative has been launched for companies in the 3Ds area (Deane, Derby, Daubhill). Companies taking part will have an environmental audit carried out by consultants Integrated Solutions, which will advise them on the best way of reducing energy and heat loss, reducing waste, recycling opportunities, and reducing overheads.
The initiative will pay 80 per cent of the cost of the audit and a grant of up to £5,000 will be available to implement its results.
Audits have already recommended that companies install UPVC windows and doors to reduce energy loss, replace boilers with combined heat and power systems, use portable extraction systems to minimise fumes and fit energy efficient light bulbs.
Going green can be immensely profitable for a business and companies from the 3Ds area can gain massive benefits from taking part in the initiative, said Planning and Environment Services Committee Chairman Councillor Jack Foster.
