The massive growth in the popularity of postcards coincided with
the early development of aircraft and the exploits of the pioneering aviators.
It is important to look for named locations and dates as these can add
dramatically to the value of cards, as can the messages on the reverse
if they make reference to the subject.
This is the monoplane in which M. Bleriot made his successful flight
across the English Channel on Sunday 25th July 1909.

Zeppelins have always held a unique fascination. The last two cards
show the wreckage of the German Zeppelin brought down at Theberton, Suffolk,
on 17th June 1917.
The final four cards show air crashes at Duxford.
Bristol Fighter F4485. Pilot Officer Martin was sadly killed in this
crash.
This plane F8945 was involved in a mid air collision. Pilot Officer
Young luckily survived.
