The History of Martlesham Heath

Nowadays, most local people know Martlesham Heath as the location of both the Suffolk Police Headquarters and BT Labs. However, in the 1920's and 30's, Martlesham's reputation stretched world-wide. These pages provide a brief history of Martlesham through three distinct phases of its history:

For further information I recommend George Kinsey's book entitled 'Martlesham Heath'. As well as providing a more detailed account of Martlesham Heath's past, it contains interviews with several of the people that helped shape it's history and photographs of many of the early aircraft.
