This ancient Water Gate is known as Pull's Ferry, after James Pull, who worked the ferry here for 45 years until his death in 1841. The ferry provided a short-cut across the River Wensum to The Close surrounding the Cathedral and operated until the 1940's. You can just see the top of the Cathedral spire in the background.
