2: Doodling

A doodler starts writing down the number 0.123456 . . ., in which the number n is inserted at the nth place (i.e. with its last digit there). Being a tidy doodler, she adds in any carrying digit from following locations before writing any digit down. How far does she have to go before having to write the digit 8 for the first time?
