Kensitas Cover Types

The protective covers in which the silks were issued gave a host of interesting facts about the flower, namely; its meaning in 'the language of flower', a literary reference, a botanical history and cultural notes.

Initially, the outside of the covers was relatively plain, giving only the Kensitas brand name and the name of the flower contained inside. Soon, the plain back was replaced with advertising.

Type A
Type B

The initial advertisement was later replaced with a slightly bolder design.

This style of cover exists in two variations only distinguishable by removing the silk thus:

Type C
Type D
However, even though the "Type D" cover advises that "Kensitas flowers are washable and the colours are fast." I would not recommend that you try.

Series 1 cards and postcard sized cards exist in all four formats, series 2, only in the final form.

There is only one cover variety; the medium size Nicotiana. Its meaning in the language of flowers is usually "Contentment" but also appears with a plain back as "I soothe you."
