Diss played
the third Ridgeons Premier League opponents in a row as they
continue the build up to the 2008/09 season. They were well
beaten by the team that finished 2nd last season and
showed that their plans are to go one better this time.
Diss
started well and had an effort from Robbie Lawrence caught on
the line by the goalkeeper. A low shot was pushed out for Danny
Thrower to shoot Needham ahead in the 10th minute.
Two minutes later a cross from the left was headed in by Tommy
Smith. Lawrence was close again with another shot before Danny
Smyth moved on to a superb 28th minute through ball
to make it 3-0.
Glen Snell
headed in from three yards out to a 51st minute
diagonal ball in from the right. Five minutes later a shot from
14 yards out by Smith looped up over Mark Cammidge off Luke
catchpole and went in to make it 5-0. Snell hit a superb shot
from 20 yards out for his second goal of the game in the 66th
minute. James Evans struck another fine shot to complete the
scoring in the 73rd minute. Danny Partridge had a
shot deflected over as Diss went in search of a consolation
goal.
