Diss won for the first time in their 2008/09 pre-season matches when they beat Ridgeons Premier Division Cambridge Regional College 4-3 in an entertaining match at Brewers Green Lane. Diss took an early lead, trailed 3-1 at half time but played some fine football in the second half.

A poor 3^rd minute Diss corner was not fully cleared and Osiris Gomes hit a shot from wide on the left which found its way into the net with Danny Partridge running across the eye line of the goalkeeper. A Sam Parkinson free kick from wide on the right was aimed at the inrushing forwards at the far post but eluded players from both sides and ended up in the top corner for the equaliser. Diss gave the ball away to Adam Marriott in the 30^th minute and he advanced into the penalty area before sending a low shot into the far corner of the net. Five minutes later he scored his second goal when he appeared to use his hand to beat Bartosz Potrawski to a centre from the right.

A run from Gomes in the 61^st minute was ended by the hand of a defender who had fallen to the floor and Robbie Lawrence confidently blasted the penalty low into the net. Two minutes later Steve Wright had a shot kicked away for a corner. Lawrence swung the ball in from the left and Leighton Miller’s header was over the goal line before being kicked away to make it 3-3. Gomes ran at the defence with ten minutes to go and found Wright on the edge of the penalty area. He laid the ball back for Lawrence to score the winner with a superb 25 yard right foot shot.
