Ashley Brand’s pace was a constant threat to the
Diss defence. In the 8th minute he broke down the
left wing before cutting into the penalty area. He was brought
down by Mark Shadrack for a penalty. Luke Pepper hesitated in
his run up and Mark Camidge dived to his right to push the ball
round the post for a corner and a good saved penalty. The major
contest of the rest of the half was Brand v Camidge. In the 14th
minute the home goalkeeper moved out to make an excellent block
after the tiny forward burst through the middle. Four minutes
later Camidge pushed the ball away for a corner after Brand ran
clear and shot from an acute angle. Diss did have attacks with
Ben Deacon heading on to the roof of the net, Osiris Gomes
having a shot blocked after exchanging passes with Deacon and
Adie Hayes having a 25 yard shot deflected wide. The fourth
important Camidge save of the half came in the 37th
minute when he blocked another Brand shot from an acute angle.
Three minutes into added time Diss won a corner
on their left wing. Hayes sent the ball towards the head of
Brendan Foley ten yards out. His firm header was goal bound when
it struck a defender and flew up into the roof of the net.
March goalkeeper Chris Anker made his first save
of the match in the 47th minute. Robbie Lawrence
released Gomes to run from half way and when he shot from just
inside the penalty area Anker had moved out to make the block.
Andy Moody missed a great chance to make it 2-0 when he blasted
over after Gomes pulled the ball back to him in the 66th
minute. Two minutes later an even better chance was put over by
Deacon from six yards out. Danny McKail, on debut, ran down the
right and from the goal line put in a low centre which was
pushed out to Deacon with the goal gaping. He hurried his shot
and it went far too high. Excellent advantage play after Gomes
was fouled in the 71st minute ended with Deacon
forcing Anker to use his feet to make the save.

(Robert
Taylor in action as a late substitute)
Diss manager Rob Taylor came on and came close to
scoring in the 86th minute. George Wilson played a
fine pass into his path and after beating a defender Taylor
forced Anker to parry his shot.

Diss were punished for their
missed chances when March equalised in the 89th
minute. Diss had chances to clear the ball but failed to get it
out of the danger area and James Richardson beat Camidge at his
near post from eight yards out. There was still time for Taylor
to force another save from Anker.
