Diss and Yarmouth met for the second time this
season at Brewers Green Lane. Stewart Roach scored all four
Yarmouth goals in the 4-3 league win. However, in this cup tie
he was replaced at half time and the Diss defence were in
control and the visiting forwards rarely troubled Mark Cammidge.
Diss will now travel to Stowmarket in the 1st Round
in the week commencing Monday November 3rd.
Danny Partridge and Andy Moody linked up on the
left wing in the 6th minute. Moody moved into the
penalty area and was brought down by Chris Squire. Ben Deacon
scored from the penalty, although ex-Tangerine goalkeeper
Michael Hilton got his hands to the ball. Moody was just high
with a header and Partridge rippled the top of the net after a
fine pass from Deacon as Diss looked likely to add to the score.
A minute before half time Partridge had a shot blocked, from the
follow up Luke Catchpole’s deflected shot was pushed aside by
Hilton and Danny McKail hit the post from an acute angle.
Danny Partridge cut in from the left and
hit a low right foot shot from 22 yards just inside Hilton’s
right hand post to make it 2-0 in the 62nd minute.
Hilton used his legs to block shots as Partridge and Deacon
raced in on goal. However, Hilton was not to be beaten for the
third time until a minute into added time. Brendan Foley played
a through ball and Steve Best outpaced the defence before
hitting a fierce shot from twelve yards out to make it 3-0.
