Match Report by Tony Collins

Diss were without two players due to suspension for the visit to Fakenham. Brendan Foley started his three match ban for the sending off at Mildenhall in The F. A. Carlsberg Vase and Luke Catchpole was serving his one match ban for collecting five yellow cards this season. Diss ran out comfortable winners against The Ghosts who remain bottom of the table with just one point from their first ten league games.

Danny Jones sent the ball through the middle for Danny Partridge to race through and chips the ball over the advancing Danny Stockdale to put The Tangerines ahead in the 5th minute. Danny Partridge made it 2-0 in the 25th minute. Alan North headed on a long kick by Ben Nower and Partridge left Stockdale on the floor before slotting in. Ed Cussons was forced to make a fine goal line clearance to deny Ben Darby a chance before half time. Nower made a superb double save, he pushed away a Karl Pask free kick and blocked the follow up shot by Mark Betts. George Wilson was just wide with a volley to a good pass by Partridge and had a ‘goal’ ruled out for offside just before half time.

Adam Woodhouse cleared a North shot at a corner off the line early in the second half. Although Diss had the better chances their lead was reduced to one goal in the 65th minute when Ben Darby shot home from close range to a cross from the right by Betts. Steve Wright was brought on and scored with his first touch of the ball when he coolly shot in from the edge of the penalty area with 71 minutes played. Three minutes later Alan North ran at the home defence and after beating three players hit a right foot shot which took a deflection to fly past Stockdale.
