Match Report by Tony Collins

Diss had another miserable day at Brewers Green Lane as they fell to their third home defeat in six league games. To make matters worse Luke Catchpole was sent off and he will miss The Norfolk Senior Cup tie at Dereham on November 22nd.

Hadleigh dominated from the start and came close to opening their account in the 2nd minute when Ashley Skeggs shot just wide. Alan North replied for Diss but his shot was just too high and this was to be his first game without a goal on his return to The Tangerines. Chris Dennett sent a corner across in the 13th minute and Robbie Knott was left unmarked to head in. Ben Nower kept Diss in the game with a superb block to a Craig Payne 20 yard shot. Diss finally put a flowing move together just before half time with Gavin Pauling releasing Danny McKail to run and send in a low cross for Danny Partridge to shoot straight at goalkeeper Luke Whitwell.

The Tangerines should have equalised early in the second half when Leighton Miller got free of his marker to an Ed Cussons corner but only headed into the hands of Whitwell. Hadleigh went 2-0 ahead in the 50th minute after Cussons brought down Dean Tourney-Godfrey and Payne scored from the penalty kick. New signing Ben Soanes from Norwich United was introduced but was unable to make any impression on a resolute Hadleigh defence.

With frustrations increasing, both on and off the field, Luke Catchpole collected a second yellow card ten minutes from time and was sent off. Two minutes later Diss failed to clear the ball and Jason Curtis forced the ball over the line from close range to make it 3-0 after Dan Oakes played a long ball for Skeggs to cross into the danger area.
