Diss moved through to a home Quarter Final
against Long Melford on Tuesday 2nd December with a
convincing win at Greens Meadow against Stowmarket last
Wednesday. Manager Rob Taylor made eight changes to the starting
line up which had lost to Hadleigh with goalkeeper Ben Nower,
left back Ed Cussons and midfielder Luke Catchpole the only
players retaining their places.
There were few chances created in the first half
with neighbouring firework displays an attraction for the crowd.
However, it took Diss just three minutes in the second half to
take the lead. Steve Wright moved forward and hit a shot from 20
yards. Ross Charters pushed the ball away and Wright
reacted quickly to shoot in to the loose ball. Stowmarket tried
to get back into the game but the new look Diss defence held
strong with the home team restricted to long range efforts. Ben
Deacon was brought down eight yards out in the 66th
minute but the referee waved play on. Diss finally made the game
safe in the 88th minute. Ed Cussons played a long
ball to Deacon. He had a shot blocked and the ball fell for
Danny Partridge to lift the ball over Charters and into the
top corner of the net from the edge of the penalty area. Three
minutes into added time Cussons played another ball for
Partridge to move into space and Shoot in from just outside
the penalty area.
