Diss Town travelled to fellow promotion hopefuls
Great Yarmouth Town for their first match of 2009 and had more
of the first half play in front of The Bloaters’ highest home
crowd of the season of 106. However, they had to settle for a
point as their one goal half time lead proved to be too small.
Manager Rob Taylor was able to name an unchanged team.
Diss could have secured all three points inside
the fist quarter of an hour. In the 3rd minute Ed
Cussons put The Tangerines ahead with a left foot shot from just
inside the penalty area after Adam Sullivan cleared an Andy
Moody corner off the line. Dominic Smith cleared a corner from
Cussons off the line in the 10th minute and three
minutes later ex-Diss goalkeeper Michael Hilton was ruled to
have pushed Moody at a corner from Cussons. Hilton dived to his
left to turn the left foot penalty from Adie Hayes, the 7th
he has taken in the last seven games with five scored, round the
post for a corner. Hilton made a good save to deny Danny
Partridge from the resulting corner.

Yarmouth started the second half strongly and
Smith was just over with a header. They equalised in the 54th
minute when Woodcock passed to Adam Sullivan. He crossed For
Adam Sewell to glance his header past Matty Hill. Partridge was
denied by Hilton and Sullivan shot just wide as play switched
from end to end. Five minutes from the end substitute Robbie
Lawrence came close to snatching the points for Diss but his 20
yard shot crashed against the bar and came out to Danny Jones.
His shot from the edge of the penalty area was superbly tipped
over by Hilton.
