Diss Manager Rob Taylor made two changes to his
starting line up for the match against third from bottom Ipswich
Wanderers. Diss created first half chances, but failed to take
them as Matty Hill was called upon to make two excellent saves.
Luke Catchpole was just wide in the 12th
minute after creating an opening for himself when he collected
the ball, ran and hit a 22 yard shot. Six minutes later he took
advantage of poor defending but shot high. A header from Soanes
at an Ed Cussons corner hit the bar in the 29th
minute with his follow up shot blocked. The loose ball found
Catchpole and his shot was blocked. Hill made a superb diving
save to his right to tip a 22 yard shot by Danny Carnell wide
via a post three minutes later. In the 34th minute
Callum Moran collected a through ball and rounded Hill to slot
in from an acute angle on the left. Soanes clipped the bar with
a long range effort in the 42nd minute but again Hill
came to the rescue two minutes later as he turned a 20 yard shot
by James Buckle around the post.
Camillo Douglas had a chance to put Wanderers
further ahead in the 68th minute when given the ball
by Diss but his curling shot was turned away by Hill. In the 75th
minute Jake Berry sent the ball over from the right for Steve
Wright to bring the ball down at the far post and force Jack
Foster to make an excellent block. The ball spun away and was
not cleared. The loose ball was put over the line from a yard
out by Ben Soanes and was signalled as a goal by
Assistant Referee Chris Pollard.
Foster used his feet to block a 79th
minute shot by Partridge from 15 yards after a back healed pass
by Soanes. The winning goal came two minutes from time when a
Mark Shadrack pass released Partridge to run on the left and
cross low for Stuart Jenkinson to sweep in from four
yards out. In added time a Diss counter attack allowed Partridge
to run from his own half but his shot from 14 yards out was off
target to the relief of the travelling support. |
