Diss continued their build up to the 2010/11
season with a fine display against Hereward Teamwear United
Counties Premier Division Team Stotfold. Stotfold finished 7th
last season in a league that was won by Daventry Town, who visit
Brewers Green Lane on August 14th in The F. A. Cup
Sponsored by E.On. It is a division that the newly formed King’s
Lynn Town will play in next season.
A flowing 3rd minute move saw Jordan
Rocastle send a right foot shot low into the far corner of the
net from 12 yards out to put The Tangerines ahead. Matty Webster
made a fine 26th minute save when he palmed a curling
25 yard left foot shot from Michael Payne over the bar. Diss
went 2-0 ahead in the 31st minute when Sam Bryant
shot in from eight yards out after Brad Gillham had made a
brilliant save in blocking a Luke Catchpole shot after he was
sent into the penalty area by Tom Bryant.

There were many changes to both sides in the
second half with the Stotfold substitute goalkeeper making a
great 50th minute save to prevent Catchpole from
making it 3-0. Webster made the save of the match to push a shot
from Paul Gannett over the bar before Stotfold took control.

Gannett scored both goals. He capitalised on the
inability of Diss to clear the ball and shot in from six yards
out in the 61st minute and equalised in the 75th
when he tapped in from three yards after a header from Jack
Gregson came back off the bar. |
