Diss had the better of the first half against a Wroxham team consisting of mostly Reserve Team players but were punished for some poor defending in the second half.

Diss started the game strongly with Luke Catchpole hitting a 3rd minute 25yard shot just wide. Five minutes Simon Mann had a great chance to put The Tangerines ahead when he was sent clear by a poorly struck back pass, but he allowed the ball to run away and Nathan Pauling moved out smartly to dive on to the ball.

Mark Shadrack made an excellent block when he raced back to get in the way of a shot from James Bulman after a quick Wroxham counter attack at a 23rd minute Diss corner. Liam Smith came close for Diss when his 27th minute shot flashed across the face of goal after an excellent pass from Jon Abbott.

Wroxham played a fine 50th minute move down the centre of the field for Olly King to run through and slide the ball past Matty Webster for the opening goal. Three minutes later Owen Paynter ran down the left. His dangerous centre was hacked away and found Danny Boswell with time and space to make it 2-0 from 8 yards out. Jordan Rocastle came close to a Diss goal in a rare attack. It was not until added time that Pauling made another save when he pushed away a header from Andy Moody to a Stuart Garner cross.

This Saturday both teams visit Felixstowe and Walton United for a double header – First Team match kick off is at 12 noon and Reserve Team at 3pm.

Thursday 19th August – Under-18s away at Gorleston (kick off 7.30pm).

Wednesday 25th August – Under-18s away at Dereham Under-18s (kick off 7.30pm).
