Match Report - Jamie Scales

Diss Town A travelled to Hingham Athletic for their final Pre Season game and ran out comfortable winners. The visitors fielded a side with a average age of 19 and quickly went about dismantling a poor Hingham Team. Diss took the lead after only 2 minutes when Nathan Ellis released Cameron Barton and he outpaced the defence and slid the ball into the bottom corner to make the score 1-0. After only 4 minutes it was 2-0 when Jordan Balls sent Lloyd Miller clear and he finished well into the bottom corner with his left foot. The visitors were looking dangerous with every attack and almost scored again when Nathan Ellis smashed the ball against the bar from 20 yards. Ellis again came close minutes later when he smashed the ball towards goal from 25 yards but the keeper palmed it away. The next to test the keeper was Max Denny who turned his man inside out and shot at goal but the keeper again saved well. This was turning into shooting practise for the visitors and Lloyd Miller should have scored again before Ryan Perry’s scissor kick went inches wide. On 20 minutes Hingham scored against the run of play when a good cross was swept into the roof of the net to make the score 2-1. Diss restored their lead almost instantly when a corner from Nathan Ellis was headed in from 6 yards by Cameron Barton for his second of the game and to make the score 3-1. The game was put out of sight in the 30th minute when Diss were awarded a penalty after Ryan Perry was brought down after a very sharp turn. The youngster picked himself up and smashed the ball into the roof of the net to make the score 4-1. Hingham looked down and out and it got worse for the home side when Max Denny Found Lloyd Miller in the area and he volleyed the ball into the net for his second of the game and to make the score 5-1. The first half scoring was complete in the 44th minute and it was the goal of the game. It came when Jordan Balls fed the ball into Ryan Perry’s feet and he spun his man and smashed the ball at goal from 20 yards which found the net via the post for his 2nd of the game and to make the half time score 6-1.

Diss rung the changes in the second half and knew complacency could be a problem but did continue to find the net on a regular basis. Within 5 minutes of the restart the tangerines found the net again. It came when a corner from Nathan Ellis was headed towards goal by Cameron Barton but was saved and Lloyd Miller was on hand to score from close range and complete his hat trick to make the score 7-1. The game was easy for the visitors who continued to attack and made it 8-1 when Ben Wilby strode out of defence and chipped the keeper from 40 yards for his first goal in 3 years. Diss were playing some nice stuff in front of a well beaten Hingham side and made it 9-1 when Max Denny latched onto a loose ball in the area and finished with his left foot. To the home sides credit they kept trying to play football and scored a good goal when a nice through ball was finished well by the striker to make the score 9-2. Diss scored almost immediately when Nathan Ellis played a inch perfect through ball for Ben Green to race onto, round the keeper and finished well into the bottom corner to make the score 10-2. Chances were coming thick and fast and Diss could have scored again when a excellent cross from Daniel Kerry was headed over the bar by Ryan Perry. It was 11-2 when debutant Ronaldo Qoopre was sent through by Jordan Balls and he finished well into the bottom corner for his first of the season. Hingham scored another consolation goal when sloppy defending from Diss saw the striker get through on goal and finish well to make the score 11-3. The scoring was complete when a brilliant piece of skill by Ryan Perry gave him a shooting chance from the edge of the area but his shot came back off the bar and Daniel Kerry was on hand to score from close range to make the final score 12-3. Diss Town A’s man of the match was 16 year Ryan Perry for a very lively and creative performance.
