Wymondham Town 0 Diss Town Reserves 2

 Match Report by Tony Collins

Diss Reserves opened their pre-season matches with a convincing win at Wymondham. The first Diss Reserves league match will be at home against Whitton United Reserves on Saturday 21st August.

Diss created most of the first half scoring efforts and kept the home goalkeeper, who had a fine match, very busy. He pushed a Dale Wilson 9th minute header to a Kirk Bardsley cross over for a corner. Ten minutes later Diss came close to scoring three times. Wilson headed against the bar from a corner before Robbie Jeckell had a shot pushed out by the goalkeeper and Steve Wright’s follow up shot was deflected up on to the post by the feet of the goalkeeper.

Diss took the lead in the 28th minute when a through ball from K Bardsley was floated over the goalkeeper by Wright from 20 yards out. Four minutes later K Bardsley seemed set to make it two but was denied by the feet of the goalkeeper.

A long bouncing ball was played into the danger area from the left in the 49th minute and James Harrison beat the goalkeeper to the ball and headed in to make it 2-0 from the edge of the penalty area. Jeckell came closest to adding another Diss goal but his shot was just off target when Diss broke well after a 74th minute Wymondham corner.
