Felixstowe and Walton United Reserves 2 Diss Town Reserves 2

Diss Reserves started the game brightly and were cheered on by most of The First Team Squad, whose game had ended about and hour earlier, on a humid afternoon at Dellwood Avenue. However, Felixstowe had the better half of the first half and deserved their 1-0 half time lead. Carl Bronson did well to make a block and send the ball against his own post after a forward beat Aaron Bunn to the ball in the 24^th minute. Five minutes later Bunn made a good diving save down by the foot of his right hand post. Ross Shaen-Carter did force one first half save but Alvin Castrati opened the scoring with a shot from four yards out to a fine cross from the right a minute before half time.

Felixstowe started the second half on the attack. Bunn made a good save and a header hit The Tangerine bar before a second goal arrived in the 48^th minute when a header from John Burton crossed the line after hitting the underside of the cross bar following a free kick.

Diss fought back well with Branson heading over when well placed at a 58^th minute Kirk Bardsley free kick. Two minutes later Karl Ansley took the ball off a defender and moved forward only to see his shot kicked away for a corner. Bardsley took the corner and Bronson headed in at the far post to half the arrears.

The equaliser came in the 72^nd minute when Steve Wright played a fine pass down the right for Andy Collins-Reed to send a perfect high cross out of the reach of the goalkeeper for Bardsley to head in at the far post. Tom Cross forced a great save in the 79^th minute with Wright denied by the offside flag as he shot in. Both goalkeeper made fine saves within 15 seconds late in the game to ensure that the games ended in a deserved 2-2 draw.

The Ridgeons League action starts this weekend. Diss have two Ridgeons League Division One matches – at home to Saffron Walden Town on Saturday (kick off 3pm) and away at Thetford Town on Tuesday (kick off 7.45pm).
