NAUTICAL INSTITUTE

West of England Branch

CHAIRMAN’S LETTER

To all Branch Members

It is with deep regret that I have to inform you that at the 28th Annual General Meeting of the branch the following resolution was passed:-

‘That branch activities will cease due to insufficient members at the AGM to form a committee and a general lack of support from branch members. Several members of the retiring committee are willing to remain as ‘contacts’ who will be available to assist members should the need arise. The branch bank account to be closed and the balance remitted to HQ.’

As retiring chairman I have agreed to be the primary contact and am contactable on 0117 950 5645 (home) 0117 980 2638 (work) or by email john.morgan@btinternet.com (home) john.morgan@bristolport.co.uk (work).

I will also maintain the website at www.btinternet.com/~john.morgan or follow the branches link from the Nautical Institute site.

In order to reactivate the branch a minimum of 12 voting members are required in order to call an Extraordinary  General Meeting.

I would like to acknowledge the work and commitment of all past and present committee members whose efforts have ensured that the branch has been active for 28 years.  As last year showed, we have the ability to host events and seminars, but to continue we need more local support from branch members.  The branch will be left intact but dormant, and can be activated at any time should such local support present itself.

Captain  J. F. Morgan MNI (retiring chairman)
