DESCRIPTION OF FARM BUILDINGS AND GROUND TAKEN FROM
AUCTIONEER`S BROCHURE
The Manor farm`s ground was mainly
south sloping bounded by a small stream towards the parish of
Earl Shilton. The 169 acres was divided more or less equally between
arable and pasture. The farmhouse itself comprised - Dining room,
Drawing room and Breakfast room together with a large Kitchen
with Rang ( coal fired oven). Also included was a Scullery
with two coppers, sink and soft water pump, Boot hole and Dairy
with tiled floor. House maids pantry with soft water pump and
sink, pantry and underground cellarage.
1st. floor,
Five best bed and dressing rooms, bathroom plus two servants bedroom,
drinking water pump and coal house outside.
The farm house is well served with
a small flower garden, good fruit and kitchen garden, walled on
two sides leading onto mature orchard with apple, pear and walnut.
The farm buildings
These consisted of
Saddle room with copper, large loose box, Hen house, calf pen,
two pig sties, loose box, Cow pen for two, standing for four beasts,
large box for young cattle. A four bay implement hovel, Hay barn,
Cart horse stable for four, a Trap house (motor shed) Workshop
and three granaries plus modern Milking parlour and Cow shed.
The buildings on opposite
side of Barwell road -consisted of a Cattle shed for nine cows,
water being supplied by pump from well. A barn with mixing place,
plus Chaff house and Engine house (for the mill). Adjacent was
a Large five bay Dutch barn with a three bay open shed and yard,
this together with a Small thatched cottage adjoining.
