Sunday Services
Morning service format
Amongst Methodist churches we are somewhat unusual in that we book our own
preachers
as well as having our own minister,
who has three churches to lead.
A local worship leader normally conducts the service through, allowing the preacher to concentrate on the ministry of The Word. Our teenagers ('Life') meet at a home elsewhere in the village (contact Dave Hannah for further details). Junior Church(primary age) are usually in for the first 15 minutes of the service before going to their own groups, other than once a quarter when we have an 'All together' Worship service, where the children stay in.
Communion is taken during the service one Sunday in each month. After the service tea and coffee is served in the lounge. We do not take up an offering in any service but there is a box on the way in if you care to contribute. The members of the church take responsibility for the financial needs of the church. There is a loop system for those with hearing impairment. Preachers We have a variety of preachers at our Sunday services, including our minister, other church members, the local Methodist cicuit and preachers from a variety of other tradtitions and backgrounds. Here is the schedule for the next few months. Songs and Worship - Lively and Diverse
In any family there is diversity and we attempt to cater for lots of
needs in the styles of worship we provide. We have a very accomplished
worship band which would be the envy of many and through our lively
worship style seek to communicate in a relevant way to help people to
connect with God. We have several worship leaders, which in itself
brings different flavours to the worship. The words of songs and readings
are on screen using 'power point', lap top and projector so no-one will
load you down with books as you enter the building.
Evening Worship - something different
On the first Sunday each month we hold a more reflective evening service
at 6.30pm which is less formal (not that Capel could ever be accused of
formality!) enabling experimentation in worship.
On the second Sunday each month we hold a time of praise and learning together at 7.00pm.
These times are led by one of our members, Jim Ross.
Here the worship is lively and contemporary and the
teaching is interactive and often involves small group discussions.
Christians from other church fellowships in the village often join with us on these occasions.
Feel At Home - Meet With God
When you attend the church our intention is to help you meet with God
and provide a frame work and atmosphere that will enable you to do that
no matter what back ground you come from. Being a community is important to
us and our intention is to be relevant to your needs, we may not always
succeed but you will feel comfortable with us all and new people are
joining us all the time and making Capel Methodist their permanent home.
