Leadership Structures are a necessary part of any church. Methodism has never had an unchangeable system of government, but rather, a system which evolves to meet changing needs. However, this is held within a structure, called the ' Connexion'. At a local level, Capel Methodist Church has a minister, currently Revd Sue Lambert, and a team of stewards. They meet together regularly, and together they have responsibility for the many facets of church life. As in every Methodist church, there is a Church Council made up of the minister, stewards, and other key people with responsibility within this local church, plus elected representatives from the body of the church. The members of the church council are legally the managing trustees of the local church. Capel Methodist Church belongs to the Ipswich circuit of Methodist churches, which is in turn part of the East Anglia District, which has the oversight of an ordained Chairperson. This District is then one section of the whole Methodist Connexion.
